Exploits are the most common form of cheating in online games. These are not real cheats, or hacks, instead they’re the exploitation of unexpected design elements. The game designers can not predict every usage of game rules, so there often crop up methods for manipulating the rules to gain an unfair advantage, massive amounts of gold, or speedy experience gain.

We won’t know any details about exploits in Star Trek Online until the game has been released. Because developers are constantly trying to eliminate all exploits, they can be patched out of the game as soon as information about them is made public.
