The Akira class heavy cruiser has been involved in most large Federation battles. The six phaser emitters, and 15 photon torpedo launchers make this one of the most heavily armed Starfleet ships. The Akira class was designed as a Battleship/Carrier making it one of the few Starfleet classes constructed for war.
