These NPC guided ships will cruise the outer reaches of the galaxy to provide gathering places, holodeck competitions, and crafting in their many labs. The best known Galaxy class ship was the Enterprise-D of Star Trek: The Next Generation which served as the Federation Flagship during it’s time in service.

Galaxy class ships are designed for long term exploration missions, but because of their size and power and creature comforts, they also serve many combat, rescue, and diplomatic functions for the Federation.
